Together with our partners Scharfenberger GmbH & Co.KG and Strelen Control Systems, we developed the ESOS 800 AI optical sorting machine. We contributed our extensive experience in high-speed image processing and ultra-fast sorting technology to the project, combining it with Scharfenberger’s mechanical engineering expertise.
The system was developed in a very short timeframe and successfully tested under real-world harvesting conditions with various grape varieties. The sorting performance achieved was comparable to significantly more complex, multispectral solutions—despite the use of conventional camera technology. The project impressively demonstrates the potential that arises when modern image processing meets Scharfenberger’s well-founded, practical mechanical engineering.
